An Italian menu containing items of firstrate quality and artistry. For a light starter consider yellowfin tuna and avocado tartare with frisee salad and sage dressing, or perhaps rocket and parmigiano reggiano salad with aged balsamic dressing, the latter’s thin, almost translucent cheese shavings nicely complementing the arugula’s pungency. The texture of bucatini with pork cheek bacon, baby onion, broad bean, fresh tomato and black-pepper pecorino might surprise as the pasta is beyond al dente and almost rigid, though no less pleasing. Stewed monk fish in tomato and olive and caper sauce with black rice timbale and toasted pine nuts attains a nearly operatic medley of flavours; highly recommended. Desserts are also tempting. |
