The emphasis at Supatra is Thai and seafood and the scene is set with hors d’oeuvre Supatra River House, with deep-fried shrimp wrapped in rice noodle, tuna in crispy cup and vegetarian spring rolls. Traditional Thai salads and soups are all available but Supatra comes into its own with the selection of fish on offer. An absolute winner is steamed sea bass in soy or spicy lemon sauce, the freshness of the sea bass complemented by the delicate sauces.
The house speciality of deep-fried garoupa with chilli sauce should not be missed. Spicy fried pla khang with kaffir lime leaves, sweet basil, young peppercorn and galangal is also memorable. Fans of hot soups and curries will not be disappointed, a stand-out item being pineapple curry with prawns or green mussels served in a pineapple shell. Deep-fried prawn tempura and mixed vegetable is perfectly executed, the quality of the ingredients justifying the simplicity of the treatment. A limited selection of desserts is offered for those of a sweet-tooth disposition. |

This two-story traditional Thai house on the banks of the Chao Phraya River near on the Temple of the dawn is a little piece of Thai history. It was formerly the home of Khunying Supatra Singholaga , who in addition to being a successful business lady was a leading advocate of women' s rights in Thai society.
Today Khunying Supatra is remembered as a woman of great humanity , who achieved so much by personal example. In her memory , and to open up this beautiful property and its river frontage to the pubic , her daughter Supapan has converted the house into a first-class restaurant and dinner theater. |

Here you are amongst friends , for this is still very much a family house run in the traditional Thai way. The decor is modern furnishing for the comfort of all out guests. In the day time there is the shade of the trees and the cool river breezes , while in the evening you can watch the sun setting and the lights coming on across the water in the Grand Place .
Khunying Supatra was a prominent figure in developing Chao Phraya river cruises , and we can offer day and nighttime cruises on out own boat , with full on-board dining. We also offer and outside catering service to provide superb traditional meals at your own home or place of business.
Supatra River House is easily accessible from both sides of the river. You can take our own ferry , a lovely old traditional wooden craft , from Maha Raj ferry pier at Maha Raj Road. Or if you are on Thonburi side you can reach the restaurant via the small lane named Trok Wat Rakhang. |
